Hey all, I used to post at the V board as oldschool74, and I got a vintage pair of the old style leathers, from Scott back in 2003. I made the mistake of trying some mark downed Sherwood Cerberus 10's I got from Goalie Monkey, and quickly realized I forgot the golden rule if it aint broke why fix it. I only need the straps replaced on the Deceptors, and after switching back to them, I posted back to back shutouts for the first time in 330 amatuer starts. A 16 save 0 to 0 game, in which we won 2 to 1 in shootout, and a 40 save jewel, by far my best goose egg of my 12 career, against the 6 and 0 league leading team.
I live in west Knoxville T.N., and started playing goalie when I was 20, way back in 1994. I play at a place called Cool Sports Arena, which consists of an ice ring, along with a large and small indoor field, which converts over to roller hockey. I am now 34, and I have posted a career mark of 173 wins, 137 losses, and 21 ties ice and inline combined. 88 - 69 - 4 inline, and 83 wins 69 losses and 17 ties on ice. Four champioships on ice and two more playing inline. I keep up with such ridiculous numbers, my team calls me Rainman.
Last 49 starts for example 27 wins 18 losses and 5 ties, and 6 goose eggs, as well as one regular season and post season championship, going 14 -3 -3. My house beer leagues, have all been anywhere from A to C.
1200 saves, out of the last 1321 shots regulatin only, or a save % of 91.
Unfortunately, 7 saves into next start after back to back shutouts, I gave up a bad rebound which sqeaked across the crease, and I pulled my right groin badly, and my streak ended instantaniously on the put back shot. I had only allowed 10 in 6 starts so far this summer (one more in shootout win), which is 1.67 G.A.A., and I had stopped 153 of 163 shots before the game I got hurt, and a record of 4-2. Just a shade under 94%. Oh well, life is full of hurdles, and I had a much worse tear on my left groin 10 years ago, and this is nowhere as bad. No physical exterior evidence of an injury now, where back ten years ago I had a purple knot the size of a softball, where my leg meets my torso, and I was purple down to my kneecap, from the muscle bleeding under the skin. This current injury is nowhere as bad, and I think if I can hold myself out until the summer playoffs, or even the start of the fall cycle, I may be able to avoid an unplanned early retirment.
Well anyway I have ranted on enough, but I look forward to posting here in the fututre, as well as picking up tips, etc.
