I have noticed that the Barrage is no longer offered.

Does this mean that Battram no longer has a good pad for a hybrid goalie?

If not then I think something like the new Supreme 2 or 3 would be a good choice.

I was looking at the pads today and was wondering which pad would be comparible to a more traditional.... I have a good feeling after my rbk's come in and if they dont work out, I will be going to something along the lines of a supreme pro... or something along those lines..... anything in the works for this with Battram ?

thanks Rob

I think the Deceptors would be the most Olde Schoole! :)

I think you should duct tape phoen books to your legs.

I have used 12" Deceptor pads for years, and unfortunately, it didn't come to my liking.
I switched to 11" Verge last January.
It fits my game, like closed 5 hole in standing position, half butterfly, one leg sprit & stuck pads.
Verge is more flexible around ankle areaas well as knee area than Deceptor.
comparing to inside of toe area between Deceptor & Verge, Deceptor was too square shape.
It didn't slide when I was going down to butterfly slide.
So, I believe Verge is more hyblid style pads than Deceptor for me.
these impressions are just a personal things, though...
How'bout FURY pads??

You could ask Scott to dust off the old Bold 3500 patterns!

GREAT Pad!

Scott, did you have dies made for the older pad sets like the Bold 3500? If you did could you get them out and make an old school set for someone?

Never had dies made for those pads Sara, that was before the days of a clicker cutter here at Battram... however I still do have all the patterns of everything we have made, so I could still make them if I wanted to.

If there becomes lots of requests for a hybrid style pad, we may end up coming up with something more Hybrid but based off of a modern design! I have done a couple of these in the past for customers and they worked out well, just something I never brought to the public.

Shorty, these are your pads right?? http://www.battram.com/images/edge/edge-0019.jpg I think you have the EDGE pad!! Not the Verge!

That sounds a lot of what I am looking for. I really like the modern look but want a mroe hybrid feel. The new Supreme's are a great example of a nice clean modern look but on a hyrbid pad (I haven't seen them in person but I am assuming the are still a hybrid pad)

After trying a couple of butterfly pads I know they look great but just don't suit my style (or lack of) as much I as want.

I'm in your boat too Hunts. I am getting ready to order another set of pads. And am stuck as to what I want to go with. I have never really gotten used to my Deceptors. I miss my old Vaughn 3600's. What would you say is the closest thing you make right now to a more traditional/hybrid pad.

GREAT Pad!

11 seasons, over 400 games and still going strong (albeit with a fair amount of duct tape to cover tears and rips)!

I definitely got my money's worth when I bought Battram 3500s!

If Scott doesn't have something that suits you, why not take a look at some of the shops around town? I know I've seen some old stock of more hybrid stuff around a few times, usually at pretty decent prices. Of course, knowing you Huntster, I doubt you'll pick up something that isn't the latest and greatest.

Which stores are you reffering too?

After trying the wrong pads twice now I am thinking of trying some used hybrids pads to help me determine what it is I need from a pad.

I haven't been to The Hockey Shop in a while but they used to have a few older pairs of stuff. Hasek-style TPS pads, Browns, stuff like that. I know Ice Level in Richmond still has a set of Vaughn 6000s that are a few years old. The Sports Exchange on Burrard might have some older or used stuff, if you're just looking to experiment.

Of course I doubt any of it will be NHL legal.

Anyway, it's an idea. If you know any goalies with hybrid gear it would definitely be a good idea to ask to try out their pads. At least then you'd know, one way or the other.

Last weekend at a local sport shop in Ottawa, he had still bran new Heaton 5 pads, Vaughn Vision (older not sure on the year), Bauer Supremes and even an older Koho, 470 I think. The sizes were 33" and 34". It was like hybrid pad paridise. When there is old stock like that the prices are usually lower as well.

I have a pair of Cyclones which are resemble the vaughn velocities, and since i have had them i had tryed a pair of bauer supremes which i loved because of documented improvements in skateing and butterfly width along the ice. so i have been looking at the battram page ever since, for when i get my next set of pads, and to me the Deceptors have seemed to be very close in style and design would this be a correct assumption?
