Here's a picture from the first game that got by me:
http://pics.livejournal.com/zengoalie/pic/0008xtb3/s640x480

The girl cut in through the faceoff circle and made a few moves. My left D challenged and got beat, the right you can see at the top of the picture blocking out the other girl.
For my own notes I can see that I was probably cheating too close to the post and am too deep in the crease. Better luck next game...this Sunday.

This team was fast, and they beat RI the week prior.
First goal was the 3rd or 4th whack at the rebound on my left as I tried to scamble and cover it up.
Second was my biggest weakness, moving from my left to right-through some traffic but ended up about 14 inches up off the ice to my stick/blocker side.
Third was semi breakaway where the girl again cut from my left to the right and put it in under my blocker/over my pad.
Last goal was a shot that hit off the post to my right, went right back to her and she put it in before I could get my pad down.
Overall pleased with the game, I made some good saves and did stop one girl on a breakaway. Also grabbed one off the girls stick with my glove just before it went over the line.
This is the team that we'll be facing in our Manchester Verizon Center game. Should be a good competative game.

Spent the weekend up at the University of Southern Maine. They stuck us in the lower C division...big mistake. We have two Lady Monarch teams, a T1 and a T2 level. They combined our records from last year, so assumed we were worse than we were. Needless to say we kicked butt and I didn't see more than 6 shots in a game. I'd rather be peppered than not see any action for 20 minutes. Either way here's the breakdown of goals scored on me.

First game (10-3 win)was against a chippy Vermont team. First goal the girl came down on my right and at the circle ripped a shot that ticked off my shoulder and went up and in. Maybe I went down too early or should have been one more step out to cut down the angle.
Second goal was a 3rd or 4th rebound to my right where I just couldn't cover it up and the D just didn't clear it out.
Third goal I stayed with the girl coming in out of the right circle, came way out to give her nothing and my defenseman did the same thing...leaving someone wide open in front. She made the pass to the front and I didn't get my stick out in time to block the pass...

Second game I played was the 10-1 win, one shot that rang off the inside of the left post and traveled back across the line. Maybe I could have whipped around and tried to sweep it out with my stick...but unlikely.

Championship game we won 4-1. The one was a rebound that bounced out of the twine/backside of the net to my right and I put my leftpad down and tried to cover it with the glove. Slipped between my feet. Probably should have tried to paddle down on this to prevent it going fivehole.

Grats on the wins! Gotta love the garbage goals that ruin the shutout.

After a week off for a wedding, played another South Shore league game. We won 5-2. Was a bit sloppy and saw quite a few odd man breaks. The first shot they put on me went in.
There was a winger just to my right (uncovered) and I was more concerned with her...but then the open person in the slot ended up taking the shot and it went inside low left post. I was probably off my angle cheating over because of the girl to my right...

Second goal was sloppy on my part, too deep in the crease and not quick enough to come out and challenge. Went right between my blocker and my side. One more step out it probably would have been a gut trap.

Looking forward to Saturdays ice on the actual Manchester monarchs Verizon game. It's the home opener for the Monarchs, so I'll get a glimpse of the AHLer's riding the stationary bikes in the hall. It's such nice eyecandy to gaze at before our game.

Won on the Verizon ice...4-3. I'm trying to remember how they scored on me. May need to watch the dvd to refresh my memory.

I know that the first one a pass was made out of the left corner to one of the opposing teams forwards who was totally all alone in front. I made the move and stopped her point blank, but then the rebound slipped to my right, and they put it in.

Second goal was a similar play where they passed it out from behind the net to a wide open player to my right. I saw it but just didn't have the speed to get over in time.

3rd goal they were trying to stuff it in the left post and I had my skate anchored there. My center was trying to "help" but ended up putting it in our own net. If she'd just let me cover it it would have been all set.

Oct. 19th against the Ice Sharks in Bedford. They were a huge physical team that we were able to pass around.
One of the goals the woman danced her way along the goal line and slipped it in under my pad. She tried it again later in the game and I smacked it away with a strong poke check. Should have done that on that first goal.
Honestly can't remember how the other two were scored...but I don't think I was beaten cleanly on any of them.

November 2nd, late game in Bedford. We won 2-1. I made several great saves, but of course the one that went in was a knuckler.
I made the save down in the butterfly, but my stick must have been ramped up. The puck flipped up and I swear it was super slo mo, flipped up over my head, I had time to turn and try to grab/bat it away with my glove, but it dropped down (where I had another split moment of maybe sweeping it out with my stick) and into the net.
Grrr! Another chance at shutout lost...but we do have a 9 game winning streak, so I'll take the win!
Next game is against a B level team where I expect to be shelled...

Hey, ZenGoalie. The goalie that was on the team last year wasn't Brandee LeClair was it? I know she was on the Lady Monarchs, but I don't know what branch.

Not on my team...we're the "Senior Lady Monarchs" she may have been on the regular Lady M's or the Jr. Monarchs...:D

I thought the Bears would give us a run for our money and end our 9 game winning streak...
It was a pretty brutal first period. They scored 20 seconds into the game. They had their D curling in from the blueline and ripped it upper glove side. I never saw it since there were 5 people between me and the shooter. I was down in the butterfly to cover down low-trying to find the puck, when next I knew it was in the back of the net.
The next 3 goals I'm not sure of the order, but was screened on those too. One went five hole, the other upper right corner of the net. Seems like nothing was even touching me-and ended up in the back of the net.
I didn't get down when it was 4-0 after the first period and luckily the team didn't either. We started playing more of a zone defense than trying to keep up man to man. We "tied" the 2nd period with their only goal coming off a faceoff. Quick shot in to the post stick side. We finally got on the board that period. They never let up and remained scoreless the rest of the way. So if you subtract that horrendous first period where nothing seemed to touch me and was in the back of the net-we kept pace with them the rest of the way.
I stopped a couple of clean break ins and kept it together. Overall a good learning experience.

Ok, so finally after losing by the same damn score for 3 games in a row I got my first shutout this season! I knew we'd be playing 3 tough games, and I'm not unhappy with how I played, but giving up 5 goals each time sucked.
Last night was pretty ugly and I had to make some decent saves, but I was glad to get the win. We should have piled in many more goals, we just were slapping the puck too much. Next up Saturday against the Riptide...then I've got a couple of games off to give our backup some time in net.

3-3 Tie against a real physical Ravens team. We lost one of my d-men to a concussion during the second period and we were already short skaters...that brought us down to 9.
First goal was off a faceoff to my left. My center heard someone say "hold up" so she wasn't ready when the ref dropped the puck and they immediately shot it in low glove side.
Second goal I was screened, so was down in the butterfly to cover the low shot -it ticked off my shoulder blocker side.
3rd was a semi-breakaway where the girl cut across the front from left to right, I stayed with her and tried to sweep it away with a poke check, but it snuck in under my arm pit. We led the whole game, and should have won...oh well..hope we don't see these girls for awhile, they were brutal.

I've been rather lax in posting where I've gotten scored on... But I can recall that the 1 goal against from Feb. 8th agains the Shamrocks was a girl cutting across the slot from left to right and roofing it high blocker side.

Our loss this past Sunday was a game where we were missing our entire first line. We held up admirably, but ended up losing 3-0.
First goal was a pretty passing play to the open girl to my right/catcher side, just ticked in off my toe. I tried butterfly sliding across, but just wasn't quick enough. Darned if I can remember where the other two went in...ah well, I'll try to keep better track and post right after the games so I can remember.
