Gah!
I was planning on starting a thread about my season, but it's over for a while now. I tore the MCL in my left knee Saturday night. I am very frustrated, to say the least.
It was only the 10th ice time this year - 3 practices, 3 house league games, and 4 travel games.
We drove down to the big city (aka Victoria) to play a team that regularly crushes us. But they're a good bunch, and (usually) fun to play.
We were losing 7-0, with me facing about 40 shots, us getting about 5 on their goalie. I'm having problems closing the hole under my arm glove side - they put 2 through there  on breakaways.
All the other goals were either 2 on 0's or third swipes at rebounds when my D couldn't clear them out (and I couldn't hold onto them....). It was a tough game, but fun. And the arena - Bear Mountain - is gorgeous.
So with 30 seconds to go in the game, they came swooping in. There was a bit of a pile up in front of the crease, slightly to the right side, and then I saw the puck passed across the slot to the left. I pushed off left, and when I tried to push my knee down to the ice - POP!
Oh my, the pain. A bunch of people got my pads off my legs, and they hauled me off the ice before the Zamboni ran us all over - he actually drove right up to us and stopped, waiting...
So, off to the ER, and that's it for my season for a while. It's a grade 2 tear, and the ER doc said it will probably be 6 weeks of healing, with lots of physio. He said I could probably skate in about 3 weeks, but who knows about goalie.
AAAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!
Ah well, to have made it to the age of 41 without a sports injury was a pretty good run. I've had lots of boo-boos (as I call them) like bruises and bumps and a couple of mildly annoying repetitive motion things - like tennis elbow. Never an acute injury like this one.
So, I'll keep lurking around here, living vicariously through all of you goalie people until I can get back on the ice myself... lol
