Yes after almost two years, a bout of physio for my knee, a car crash and a broken leg I finally dragged my sorry arse up to Scotland and played a game of hockey under the auspices of an alumni tournament.
However being me it was not a simple case of turn up and play, oh no for a pleasant surprise was in store for lucky Lars, of my two kit bags worth of hockey gear in storage thieves had made off with my good gear bag and have stolen my lovely TPS pads, my pants, my jocks, my two blockers, my mitt, my special helmet, my Jofa flask and other bits and pieces as well as the bag. My folks garage was broken into a few months ago but the thought of someone stealing a HUGE bag of goalie gear in the middle of the night and not making off with a variety of nice bikes was too inconceivable in their minds and because my other bag was there, thus still fulfilling the requirements of being the place where my gear was, my parents never told me.
So obviously on the morning of the game I had a minor heart attack and had to make a lot of phone calls as the only gear I have left is an old pair of Bauer Reactors, and some Rey pads I used a long time ago, as well as an old Jofa and Bauer helmet.
First game I was late for and had to dash into goal with borrowed gear and without a warmup and we lost but "only" 4-2, I played fairly poorly but considering I have been walking properly for only two months I was trying to be content.
Second was much better and remembered just how much I like this game. Was sharp aggressive, and making decent saves. Today I am VERY hung over and my legs are killing me but it was nice to be back, play with old friends and restore old rivalries. As well as realise just how ****ing great this game is.
Now the question is when will I play again?
