The game was good though! Even had a couple of breakaways and screen shots. The other goalie and I wanted so bad to beat each other, being old teammates and all. It was one of the most fun games I have ever played.

Fury - 3

SOG - 3, yes three. Not only does it average 1 shot per period, it was actually that way. Each of the first two periods, I think they were giving out a "you get a SOG since you showed up prize" to the other team because no one on my team actually remembers a shot. The one in the 3rd was legitimate.

Sometimes having so few shots makes the shutout more difficult......I take then any way I can!

Marshwood/Traip 0
BIDDEFORD, Maine — Marshwood/Traip outshot Massabesic 32-13, but fell to the Mustangs. Jeff Elliott had the lone goal. Massabesic goalie Kyle McClay made 32 saves on 32 shots. Marshwood/Traip is now 3-9.

I play high school hockey in Connecticut. Its a pretty competitive league. It used to be very good but then all the kids began going to prep schools. In the NHL draft 2 years ago my high school had 3 kids drafted (one of them being Pacioretty, who is playing really well now on Montreals first line). But he left his junior year. I'm going to do a pg year at a prep school next year.
So yeah its pretty good, it only requires about 1 extra year of hockey after high school to make it to either division 1 or 2 hockey.

We went a while between starts - 2 weeks because of weather related postponements - but Spidey got his second straight shutout and 3rd in the past 5 games.
It was a big one too, as his team is presently in 3rd place and we beat the 4th place team that was closing the gap on us.... 4-0 was the score. We havent watched the tape back but I would guess he faced a little over a dozen shots.

and another one. Spidey gets his third straight shutout and 5th of the season. Fairly easy evening as he faced just 12 shots but he was forced to make a couple of big saves.
Where I really am seeing the improvement is in rebound control. On Keeks rebound scale he had a 1.83 tonight after 2.08 in the previous game.

Easy Shutout
NC VS Westhill
5-0
The paper says i had 10 shots but my dad counted 15, the paper always gips me on shots.... Not that it really matters. It got hard towards the end because the coach was playing the younger guys and the other team REALLY didn't want to get shutout. I hurt my wrist in this game, i covered a puck and a guy came through and whacked my hand, my wrist has been giving me problems all season but had recently stopped hurting (glove hand). My best save was with 30 seconds left, i had a shot and i fumbled with it in my glove, it bounced out to the slot about 7 feet away, the guy who took the shot rushed in and ripped a slapshot blocker side and i just got it and it went straight up and my dman came in behind me and knocked the net off and caught the puck.

Spidey gets his 6th shutout of the season in helping his team to a 2-0 road win to open our best of 5 playoff series. He faced about 15 shots and the defense played great in front of him. Once again his rebound control, which is something he has really being concentrating on, was awesome.

i have so far this season 8 shutouts
and i had a streak of 4 games in row with a donut on the board
it all started beginning of february with a 1-0 win got 42 shots my way
then we went 5-0 with 24 shots my way followed by a 3-0 with 32 shot my way and then 2-0 with 45 shots my way the following game we lost against the team where i start my shutout streak 1-0 they scored with 5 min left in the game and got 41 shots that game
so i basically went 4 3/4 games without allowing any goal.

I've never gotten a shut-out, my team has sucked too much.
But, i have let in 2 goals in over 100 SOG (Like i said, my team ****ing sucks) I get about 60 shots per game

First round of the playoffs for the team I'm subbing for.
9-0
The guys played D first, then waited for a mistake for our scoring chances. I faced maybe 20 shots, most in the 3rd period.
In the third period I told them to take it easy in the offensive zone, so they started to let guys come in on alone, and I was able shut them down.
I had an assist, and a few outlets passes ( since they were passed right to me, I had no other option! ).
Next week is a better challenge-the 2nd place team who likes to play a more physical style ( boarding/slashing/hooking/running the crease ). They also lead the league in penalty minutes! If we win, we go to championship finals an hour later!!!

Earned (kinda) my first shutout last night! I say kinda because my team really earned it. They played great in front of me. We don't have expanded stats in my league so I can't say how lopsided the game was but we definitely out shot the other team by a bunch and the shots I did get except for a couple were VERY handleable (is that even a word lol). One nice save by the post in the third and I was on my way.
Cool thing is going in to the game last night I kinda had the feeling that I was going to get one (or at least really give the other team a whole lot of trouble) so I only sweated it for a few minutes in the third until my team scored the 3rd goal.

Liam asked me to post here 2 weeks ago but I forgot but after today's game he is standing over my shoulder making sure I post his latest shutout.
After earning 3 shutouts in 3 starts to win a tournament in Strathroy 2 weeks ago, Liam followed it up with certainly his most exciting shutout, and perhaps the best game of his young goaltending career.
In the semi-finals of his tournament today he made 20 saves through regulation and overtime, including a huge breakaway sliding butterfly save in the second period and stopped all 4 shooters he faced in the shoot-out for a 1-0 victory to advance his team to the finals.
I have never been so nervous watching him play as I was this morning.

First shutout with my new team, and it came against my old team. This was my second game against them. Won the first one 9-1, stopped 26/27. This time, I stopped all 9. Woo hoo!
Edit: I forgot to mention... the last song I had on my Zune before getting dressed was Peter Gabriel's "I Have the Touch." Completely random. The "wanting contact" line really stuck with me, although I didn't get many shots.

got an other one,
19-0, i don't understand why these guys even bother showing up.
I had to make 5 saves and stop a penalty shot.
which makes this shutout official lol

I was oh-so-close this weekend, where the only goal scored on me was compliments of my own offensive player. I believed it was just an innocent deflection off of his skate, but in the locker room after the game he said it looked slow, so he tried to turn his skate to stop it, but didn't get it turned quick enough. At least he was backchecking though.

Just got a shutout yesterday. 2nd of the season, 6-0 against a team who beat us 7-1 last week. No change, we just started to play fully on defense. Funny thing, when we play "all out attack", we don't score and we're giving away goals, and when we focus on defense only, we score and don't get score. I hope my guys learned their lesson.
We're the worst team in the league, we score in average 2.80 goals/game which is really bad for beer leagues.

For a second there, I was going to say, that's not a bad beer league GAA. But then I noticed you said thats how many you score per game. Not soo good. ;)

Ended the regular season on a high note, 1-0 for my sixth. I have no idea of a shot total but I did stop three breakaways.

4-0, 12 (tough :p) shots. Clinched the division championship against the 2nd place team. In warm-ups it looked like we were only going to have 4 skaters, but 5 more guys showed up right before the zamboni came off the ice.

First game in three weeks, and first of three games on Sunday. Subbing for a team I have never played for, who is in the first in the North Division, against a team in 2nd in the South Division. Funny thing is I have only subbed in three games (all wins) in this particular league, and two of the wins have been against the team we shut out. Second game of the day I was close to doing it again, making it deep in the third before I was scored on.
Ice Hawks - 3
Red Wings - 0
SOG - 12 (although I am pretty sure I had that many in the third alone. Shots on the other goalie only shows 11, so they were low on both of us.

I had a game on Saturday night. We are 1:30 away from closing out the game with a 4-0 shutout, when the other team shoots the puck from below the right face off circle and my defenseman gloves it into the net. Man, that's frustrating....but at least we won the game!

Just got back from Halifax on Wednesday. My team was in a tournament.
Needless to say the hockey there wasn't quite up to par with hickey in Ontario, (and the level I'm playing this year is very challenging as it is.)
I started 3 games, and got 3 shutouts. The other goalie on my team got 1 and then let in 2 softies with 3 minutes left the one game.
Anyways the first game I had like 7-8 shots, some how 3 of them came of break away. I think we won like 8-0
second game I played we won 4-0 and had 3 goals called off. Had about 10-11 shots.
Third game (finals) We won like 8-9 nothing against the same team we played the previous game. Had 10 shots tops.
Pretty easy tournament we should have went in A division instead of B. Even though were only a CC center from s town of like 2000 people.

Had a VERY strong Blue line tonight. They spent most of the time in their zone.
Only seen about 10-13 shots. But my stomach was killing me, if I woulda took a gut shot it woulda been all over, so I am glad for the D tonight :)

I'm happy to report that I can finally post in this thread!
October 27, 2010, first shutout in 2 years, possibly longer.
2-0, where the bulk of my work was in the first period. Probably a total of 18 shots against (if even that many), 10 of which were in the first period, then another 4 or 5 in the first half of the second, then it was a battle to stay mentally sharp for the rest of the game.
Had one game last year (against the same team I just shut out), where none of THEIR shots went in, but one of my D saw fit to blow a 0-0 game by pushing the puck past me. (FWIW, all of my defencemen have scored at least once against me this year; 6 games into a 30 game season and it's already a hell of a race for the Steve Smith award!)

First shut out of the season, 4-0 with 18 shots against (3 to the head).
It's hard to believe that we've only won 3 games all year after winning our championship last year.
I guess that's what beer league's all about, you never know who will show up.

Shut outs are so rare in my casual league that we've adopted the phrase to refer to what we do to the guy who forgets to bring the beer.
But I managed a proper shut out a couple weeks ago!
The concensus amongst the four teams is that it was the first shut out in our little league in over 5 years. (I didn't tell them the previous one was mine too!)

Finally posted my first goose egg of the year. Pretty happy for myself but it was more important for the team. It was just our 5th win of the year. Either I've sucked or the team has or we've both sucked. The team managed to keep the opposition to the perimeter and I actually had a fairly easy game. I stopped 18 shots and I think my one D-man ended up making 10 saves as well.

He complained in the dressing room about being hit so much. I told him to get out of the way then. His reply was that he was trying to.

I think I learned something while I was off with Pulled groin. Five games back, three different leagues, 3-2 loss, 1-0 loss, 3-0 win, 4-0 win, 3-0 win. Seems I do more by moving less, after 40+ years, I just may be on to something. :)

It's all about positioning. If we can get into the proper positions and get set before the shot it makes life simpler. I love hearing over and over in the dressing rooms how I don't leave much to shoot at.
