Got a hernia, doesn't really bug me much but need to get it fixed. Surgery on Dec 16th and told to plan on 6-8 weeks off the ice.

Sucks, but hey worse things can happen so I shouldn't say to much. More ice time for Sprawl if he can still take it.

Hounsy,

Just noticed your post. Sorry to hear about your injury. I had one of those back in 94 and it hurt like heck. The good thing about it is that it leaves you better than new. The repair procedure is unbelievable and you never will tear in the same area again.

Good luck with the surgery.

Best of luck with the surgery, man. Doesn't sound incredibly pleasant.

I've got a Spigelian hernia (or so the doc says) that I need to get fixed up relatively soon. It's been there for years.

Well starting to feel a little bit of discomfort over the last few days after playing Sunday and Tuesday. Looks like I'll have to start cutting back now on the ice time already. Thought I'd truck through till the surgery playing four times a week...man I was foolish.

Oh and of course in league play I'm playing the best hockey I've ever played, this stuff never happens when your games in the gutter.:D

I had surgery for an inguinal hernia a few years ago, took about 9 weeks before things were semi-back to normal but it's been okay since then.

Still hurts in the area they put the patch in now and again though.

thanks guys. Surgery went well, first few days hurt big time then it was okay the rest of the week, then the staples came out of the incision wound and things started to get better quicker. Have yet to feel any pain or discomfort in the patch area and really feel like I could play today. That said will at the least give it six weeks before I play again. Next week will start on the elliptical and then see if things still feel ready to go when Feb hits.

hey, I've been waiting for my hernia operation date for a while now and just got word from the hospital that it's been scheduled for April 23rd.

I've got an inguinal hernia as well and I was told that it would be about 6 weeks before I could return to playing hockey again, but that I would be healed up within 10-14 days.

Thanks for the info guys. You can't find this kind of info anywhere else.

Yep all those times match up with my experience and expectations though the incision wound did irritate longer than two weeks though nothing serious. Good luck with your fix.

Other things I've learned in this experience is once you get used to not wearing pants for a few weeks you hate having to start wearing them again.:D My patience with others at work is drastically thin when I am not playing hockey.

Played one of my regular pick up hours last night and went ok. The last then minutes went from uncomfortable to sore, but just eased up and stopped pushing with my right leg. No pain this morning so will Tuesday and Thursday next week.

So six weeks and two days to get back on the ice. What I expected so no complaints.
