First off, I am POS goaltender :) I have only been playing 2 or 3 years. Anyhow, I was asked to play in a one day, 4 team tournament. In our first 2 games I allowed 3 goals (real good defence) and was feeling good, that didnt last long. In the final we played against a team that had a guy that was a solid AHL player........the guy ate me alive, we lost 7-4 and that guy had 7 points. The ref, who is normally a goalie and a friend told me he felt sorry for me because he said that I didnt stand a chance on any of the goals....still cool to play in a tournament when I normally only play pickup.

I didnt mind being "owned" by a pro hockey player. There really isnt a point to this story...........just wanted to share :)

The first part of that seems to be your point ;)

That aside, similar to your situation, I've had the chance to play against a former AHLer as well. Not in a tourney but in a pickup. I'm not sure how long ago he played or for how long but still... I was less than 6 months into my career (if you can call it that, I'm still under 3 years on ice). It was quite the experience. It really helped my game since I actually did stop him every once and a while. It made pretty much all the other guys I play against not intimidating at all.

Glad you had fun!
