I thought I would post a place for us to exchange graphics ideas, get help from our Photochop and graphics gurus (All hail Chakal, Rbrownie and Punisher!) and gererally scare Scott with our wild ideas! :D

I made a decent blank jpeg of the Fury design sheet, so go at it!

(Bolty...start workin' on that Kings design!!! ;) Rogie!)

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f299/Ryano42/FuryBlank1.jpg

I was thinking of some retro adaptation for a (long off) future set... Something around Denver, CO 1999 or..something to match a Higgins Mask!

Just brainstormin'!

Enjoy!

Tom, you went to all that trouble and work, while Chakal probably has the blanks someone on his Mac!! haahah... We need to get the pad inside gussett updated so it shows its current look...

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with...

I just finished a really nice looking set of Tribal flames the other day... Chakal if you have the templates post them, I then will show how the finished product came out!

It's a good effort Ryano, but i could really use the original template.

some lines are to blurry.
But here is a try on the vintage LA colors, the black on the pads is thick stitching. to give that oldschool look, the patches on the shin are pieces of jenpro so that it looks like the straps go throught the pad.

pun. :D

Thats gonna look awesome in purple...weave.

Scott, you did such an great job with the "550" pattern, I was thinking about the 560 pattern in my usual red, white and navy Robocop!

My 'chop skills are failing me at the moment but I will keep trying!

Got lots o' time to design it...these Furys I have now are %^&# amazing!!! :)

Ryano42

I think it gets the idea across...the "knee rolls would be little more than stitching and the silver gussets help recreate the look of the "560"... :D

Colors are my usual Red, Navy, White and Silver Robocop! :p

Having trouble with the image properties so filling color is manual now...yuck.

Many thanks to Punisher for the help!

It's looking familiar, tho we will have to break up BATT RAM between the split in the vertical roll. I think silver between the Red and Navy shapes...

Ryano,

yesterday there was a goalie on tryout at our practise, he had his old gear (gear of last year was owned by the club) and what do you know.
he was sporting a very good preserved set of 560's black white black.

sweet pad, really sweet.

One of the nicest looking sets I have made in the new style (Deceptor, Verge, Fury) featured fake knee rolls and old school face stitching, I will get the photo uploaded here when I get some more time... It basically looks just like the one above, only in Retro Buckey and Black!

Ryano42

Scott,

Are the stitching to give the "Knee Roll" look and especially the gussets between them a pain to do?

There are some weird curved stitching on the "560" that were actually rolls that might be fun to do...

Trying to do a pad that is more than just a color design challenge for you...as I usually do! :)

Hey guys, I hope to be ordering a pair of pads from scotts in the next six weeks or so and I think I'll be going with a bruins color scheme, sport gold, black and white. Im not sure on that but I'm tossing around options on some different things right now. So I modified a picture from the site a little in ms paint. I was wondering if anyone could photoshop this pic for me?

I just need the circled parts(top binding, side roll) turned into sport gold. Thanks in advance.

I know that Chakal has lots of Blank Templates for our stuff...

I wonder if Sprawl could somehow place these here on the Board in such a way that they all are available from a page here... so folks that may not know where to find them can get the blank templates???

Also I have had a few requests for the new Nexxus templates for pads and gloves... If you have those Chakal, post them up here and we will let Sprawl figure out where they can go!

best you could do to minimize that the pads would get to busy is use it where it wouldn't see to much ice and use real tartan.

not as bad as purple... but oh man!!!

get some white in there and take away some of the "OMG I'M GOING BLIND EFFECT". use the colours as "accents" instead of the primaries and i think you'll have a better overal design

I dont know the entire story behind this material, my sales rep's version was they brought in several thousand yards of this material for a company, the company backed out of the material, the supplier was stuck with it and did not take any money from the company upfront and has been selling it off to recover their initial output and for what it is selling for they must be either taking a loss or they make huge profits on Jenpro..., its a one time thing since it was a custom order... when its gone its gone, but I have purchased full rolls of this material in a few colours... It looks like a satin finish with vertical brush strokes through it... its interesting, probably not something for a full set of gear but makes a nice accent material... the metallic gold and green are especially sharp! White and black are pretty basic... the black almost looks like a charcoal...

Sprawl, perhaps an entire section of the board could be used for a massive storehouse of templates?? There are lots on our site, but it would be really cool if we could somehow store them in one thread on the BB for the customers to pick the one they need to use.

I know David has many of them blanks as well. It would be easier to get them here, then I can just point people to the link when they ask for these templates via email.

I have been kicking around some different looks also using the Bolt as a design starting point. I am looking at the bolt the the SD Chargers use on the side of the pants, trying to get them on a pad in a way that looks great. Hoping to have it figured out in time to put on a new set of Nexus pads.

You would be right - that is exactly what it is

Even the gf liked it and she 'hates' Metallica :D

Was tempted to go for the Metallica 'ninja star' on the blocker in some fashion, just trying to decide on the catcher.

Though I am also tempted to leave the pads like that and then go a bit 'crazy' with the black and white (and flashes of red) on the gloves...

Thaok cool telgip - am quite tempted by the idea of the ninja star on the blocker in some form.

I did draw a blocker design with the 'star' in the middle, but am not sure about it.

I might try one with the star 'creeping' in from the bottom corner...

Just leaves me with the glove to do then.

Must admit a temptation to see if I can get a Black Album snake on the bar in the pocket of the catcher...

I designed this one a while ago and have most likely shelved it because of the retro set. Me likey the retro.

Was talking about it this morning on the chat with sprawl so I figured I'd share with the class. I used 2 different all white sets from the custom galleries to do the photoshop after I drew them out on templates. One with and one without logos on the face. I'd probably opt for the no logos on the face. Would need a little tweaking (and a lot of money) before I'd order unfortunately.

Hey Scott. I'm going to assume you meant mine and reply... If not sorry, carry on.. goldeneye76
10-27-2008, 01:57 PM
i would like some opinions on this pad design. i was thinking maybe having the bottom loop flare out above the toe. i was also thinking that the blocker would be the same as the pad and the glove would have the top loop on the cuff and the bottom loop would follow the contor of the catching part.

I didn't even know this thread even existed. Cool!!!!

I had drawn a simple idea that I liked a long time ago. If I were to ask Scott to make me a new pad, I'd be partial to this graphic. I was more thinking about how this would look when it was down in the butterfly than just in a basic stance.

It's one of those "you either love it or hate it" sorta things...kinda like me.

I can see this in other colors and schemes. I'd love to hear opinions either way. Fire away!!!

I'd much rather that these pads be in the "Blue, Blanc, et Rouge" but the Sharks colors are what I am stuck with. I think I can get away with the bronze and gold firebird pads though. Who's going to complain about pads that look like the Bandit's car?

Scott Battram
01-05-2009, 09:19 AM
You don't see many off the shelf items out there using Cranberry and Teal, there was a couple others as well, with a lot of production going offshore for many items from the big company's Ennis is simply reducing their stock that they need to carry, with low demand for certain colours, they just discontinue them, its like any product, if its not selling, stores wont stock it.

When Ennis orders they have to order container loads, the mill that makes the fabric likely has minimums on how many rolls of each they need to take before they produce it, they wont likely start the machines up for 60 yards of cranberry or teal.

If production continues to go offshore, I can see a day where the smaller companies will be limited to 10 colours, Black, Red, Blue, Navy, White, Sport Gold and a few others, as Ennis simply wont stock the stuff we need. Hopefully this is where companies like Majalite will come in and pick up on some of the colours Ennis has dropped.

Scott,

What's the 'soft' material you use on the catcher? I seem to recall you saying it made it close easier

Scott Battram
01-10-2009, 10:13 PM
Ultima is the material we have been putting in the palm area of the Nexus glove, its a little bit softer and more pliable than the Jenpro so it actually helps the gloves closure, some guys are saying it seems to help the puck stay in the glove better as well. It has a little more grip too so perhaps it slows the puck slightly when the vertical side of the puck hits the glove, the friction may help reduce the spin on the puck.

Beccaraptor
01-10-2009, 10:19 PM
I would like to see it go back to just black, white, blue, red, and a true looking vintage brown. :D j/k!

Unfortunately this may make repairs on some of the older gear a few years down the road more difficult if the customer wants the colors matched.

Learned a VALUABLE lesson in the past few months folks -

I had a 'old' Boddam Catch glove which I really loved - but the new stuff Dr. Scott had created for me pushed it to the curb . . . but I'd fallen in love with the idea of a "LOBSTER GLOVE", more or less as a 'freak' for my office, the occasional playoff game 'secret weapon', etc . . . :D

Anyway, back 5 months ago, I sent off my Boddam glove with a Koho blocker, with the idea of modifications to the catch being $200, and the blocker (to match) being $100-150 range. When I sent it off to this custom place, I was initially quoted (after shipping the gloves!) $600-650 for the modifications! When I contacted them and told them that this was outrageous, it was modified to $350 - so I swalllowed - and told them to begin. I'll just let the details go for now, but this week - I got photos of the 'finished' Gloves back, and some of the Modifications had not been done! When I wrote back - I got a snippy response - and promptly sent back an E-mail - with copies of our previous correspondence and the outline of what I had intended to be done - and got a snippy response back! On top of that, I was told there will be an additional charge of $132 on TOP of what we agreed to! Stern language followed, with copies of THEIR E-mail to me and the agreed upon price . . .

Anyway, suffice it to say - 5 months later (initially quoted 4 weeks, then eight . . ., finally at the end of 20 weeks) that I got it at the original price with a lot of aggravation.

Never, Never Again will I deviate from Battram. I should have asked Scott in the first place, but figured he was too busy to take on this project.

Never, Never Again anything but Battram.

Dunno how good anyone here would be with this, but i'm looking to order some new pads soon, probably a cyclone combo.

Ideally i'm looking for a Scottish, but simple kinda theme.

The pads to have snow leopard print accross the knee area and outside panel like the black watch pipe band. One pad inside leg guard to have a Scottish St Andrews Cross and the other pad to have a Scottish Lion Rampant. All the rest of the pad white.

The Catcher and blocker mainly white, but with a leopard trim and the wrist guard on the catcher a St Andrews Cross and the the blocker a Lion Rampant.

Any chance of knocking up a rough sketch and getting a ball park figure for cost?

Thanks

It's a good effort Ryano, but i could really use the original template.

some lines are to blurry.
But here is a try on the vintage LA colors, the black on the pads is thick stitching. to give that oldschool look, the patches on the shin are pieces of jenpro so that it looks like the straps go throught the pad.

Are the stitching to give the "Knee Roll" look and especially the gussets between them a pain to do?

There are some weird curved stitching on the "560" that were actually rolls that might be fun to do...
