Hi Guys/Gals,
I've ordered a pair of Deceptors. These is my first custom pad. For all of you that's gotten pads from Scott. What is the process like?
Does he discuss options while its being built or does he strictly go with the measurements from the order form?
The reason I'm asking is I'm not sure about thigh rise. I'm coming from 35" Vectors and the measurement from mid knee to top of pad was 10". I thought it was too high. I'm 5-6" with an ATK of 17-17.5.
I've spoken with Scott on a few custom options but I don't want to come across too demanding.
Thanks,
Leo

I went back and forth with Tischa in email a couple times. Sent them pictures of me playing in my old pads and got her recommendations on sizing. Than discussed with Scott on the board what he thought, Send them a few more emails about mods. Probably all in all, took me about a month to make up my mind and about 10 emails.
Finally put through the order form, whcih i think was a mere formality at that point, made my deposit and then phoned in which i believe i got scott, placed my order, gave my CC info and then before i knew it, within a couple weeks i had a big box show up to work :D

Leo,
Sounds like you have a good start!
I have had six sets of pads built by Scott, and all have been great...talking about your design is always helpful.
ATK: Very important, measure and remeasure if you have any doubts...get someone to measure you and reconfirm your numbers. Once the pattern is cut to them that's it.
Thigh rise: Sounds like you want less; see if you can mark that reduction on your thigh with your current pad on and get a linear measurement to your kneecap center. Like I said more measurements the better!
Comparison/Customization: Take a look at all the things you like and don't about your current pad and the Deceptors (great pad, BTW!) and see what's different. Remember...this pad is made for YOU so that means whatever you want and like! The only limit is your imagination, Scott and your bank account! :p
Ask questions: I wish this board had been around a lot longer! I would be asking lots of questions to Scott and opinions from everyone. Please ask us...we all love talking gear!
Finalizing: Before Scott starts he will have everything nailed down and if he doesn't he will contact you. I have received calls on a couple occasions, one that even convinced me to stay with the 5002 trapper instead of the Verge after talking things over. As it turns out it was a great discusssion and a perfect decision! The 5002 works perfectly for me.
Good luck and have fun with this process; I am sure we all look forward to talking to you...fellow Battram Brother! :D

Is it possible to have leather and nylon straps interchangable? I know I want leather straps in the boot & calf area but I'm not sure about the knee.
Does it make a difference? I'm more of a Hybrid goalie rather than a pure B-fly.

I am pretty sure that the lower straps are almost always leather, then you go to nylon, but I would guess that it really doesn't matter. As long as you get the tension needed, or not needed, then how will it be noticeable? Scott would be the person to know what's best.

Does Jenpro Slide better then Weave or vice versa?

I asked the same question to Scott and he said that weave slides better.

I have found that when new the Weave slides much nicer than Jenpro, but as it wears over time they will be the same!

So I've decided to change my order to the Fury. From reading the reviews, everyone seems to like it.
No mods...just custom graphics.
