I recently went to a local hockey store and upon finding this stick, decided that I would give it a whirl as it was on sale and the last one in stock.
I've played on ice a few times with it since, and I find it amazing. I didn't have time to tape up anything but the end knob and I still didn't have any problems with grip during the game.
The curve in the handle makes it extremely easy to pick up should you drop it (hasn't happened to me yet) and also faciliates clearing a puck as it is very nice to hold onto.
My only disappointment is that it was the last one available in the store, and now I can't find it anywhere.

I also hear that these Curtis Curve sticks aren't very durable. How so? I don't see the difference between them and any other wooden goalie stick.
I mean, i've only used it 3 times so far but it's been good. No huge dents, and i've been playing on ice. I've even taken a couple slapshots off the shaft.

Never heard of any problems with their durability, no more than with any other stick. I used to chew through Featherlights ( forward sticks ) because of my shot. They were great sticks, I just beat the heck out of them. :p

The Curtis Curve sticks seem to be a love it or hate it stick, never heard of any issues with longevity from any manufacturer - when Christian went under Brian's and Eagle picked up the pattern. From time to time some old stock shows up in pro-shops so in your travels keep an eye open for the dust bin in the back of the shop.

I was placing a custom order over at the Harrow HQ in Denver and saw one of Composite CC's - really light. Harrow still sells the composite CC's ($220 USD) but they sold the Christian name so I don't know how much stock is left.

I have 3 Eagle CC's that at various stages of beein on there last leggs. I prefer a shorter 24" paddle length, therefor the intermediate model of the Eagle. I love them. The shaft of the stick while paddle down will save one goal every 3 games on average. I get them at a local shop that orded 2 or 3 in every once in a while. Now with Eagle on the way out I will have to keep an eye out for one right away.
An alternative, if the advantage to stop pucks paddle down, is the Ballistic versa-lie. It has the shaft off on an angle from the paddle, so the hight of the puck will not slide under the shaft when paddle down. But they only make it in a 26" paddle length.

I've used the various Curtis Curve goal sticks for years and absolutely love 'em.
My experience has been that the Christian and Brian's sticks (Brian's are simply private labelled Christians) are a little less durable but also are noticeably lighter than their Eagle counterpart.
Both are becoming increasingly difficult to find however. I heard (and cannot verify this) that Christian (and therefore Brian's by association) has discontinued production of their wood sticks so what is in store stock is all that is left available. (Heard that from Maximum Edge here locally) I also heard that the Eagle stick was made in the Bauer stick plant and that plant is no longer in service. So again, what is in store inventory is all that is available. (Heard that from Perani's Hockey World here locally).
But note, this is just what I've heard in conversation. I cannot verify any of the information so take it for what it's worth. It could simply be people telling me that to sell what they have rather than ordering what they don't.

When you can find me sticks for less than £50 a pop over here I'll buy some new ones :p
It's all I've got, and at £50+ for new sticks (even wooden ones it seems) over here I simple can't afford another right now

Christian Hockey sticks are back in business. Per a December article in let's play Hockey there are new owners. They just have a front page on their web site Hockey Sticks Built by Hockey Players (http://www.cbhockey.com) but I did get an e-mail answer to my questions. They will do custom goal sticks in lots of 3 or more.

Unless the stick is deemed illegal, then I see no reason not to use a Curtis Curve stick. The Curtis Curve will help in stopping some goals during a season, and it doesn't seem to present any problems. I used it before and loved it, but I've since switched to a longer paddle, and don't have the Curtis Curve option in the paddle length that I want. I will probably go custom, so hopefully I can still order custom sticks from Harrow.

I have won 8 house league titles, in 32 seasons of A to C
house league play. I made countless saves with the
Christian and Eagle curtis curve in the last 3 title seasons,
(Battram gear as well) including the last where we went
4-8-2 in regular season, and 3 an 1 in round robin double
elimination format in post to win it all. Alot of paddle down,
shaft beauties, and only a couple of times has puck hit
shaft in paddle down, and redirected up and in.
I wonder if I could ever go back to a strait stick for the
poke check factor, but no way. becaues of the curve
of the shaft, the five hole is better protected, where
regular goal sticks have a tendency to slip out of position,
in those key situations.
The Christian torch model, even 24 inch intermediate is
the best, for liteness factor, over the heavy eagle. I
have the 26 inch pro Christian model, and it is so lite.

Mine broke. Currently have an Itech and a CCM Moving Target gave me as a spare - aside from going back to wood (from composite) I've noticed no difference to be honest.
My choice would be a straight composite

The CC was my all time favorite stick. Until having to deal with the affects of CT in both wrists I wouldnt have considered a change. To me, they had the most natural feel. I do agree that it is a love or hate thing. There doesnt seem to be a middle ground.
I still have two sitting around the house that get use from time to time. I never had one break with less than at least 1.5 seasons of use. Time in storage did not seem to affect them. My last two have kicked around hthe house for about 5 years now. When I do pull one out to use, neither seems to have become brittle. Maybe the slap sock design? If it werent for the CT, I would still be using them. I saw one during the past season and was a bit surprised by the 90.00 price tag.

ooh the Curtis Curve! Also, I heard Hackva is making a Sippy-Chug mask! It has rings to hold your Moosehead cans on your lid with long straws extending down, so you can get loaded while you play!
There've been countless pucks blocked by the beer cans. Without them all those pucks would've gone in.
I love you Sippy-Chug mask!:p:confused::p:confused::p

Wow! I don't believe this thread is still alive. Started this a year ago and I guess it got revived a couple times throughout the year. My Curtus Curve is still sitting in the closet as we speak. I stopped using it as my primary stick as I got a Bauer Composite for my birthday (light as a feather!). Does the Curtis Curve come in composite form?!

Not to bump an old thread, but yes. Harrow makes a composite CC. The pro-shop at our rink got a few in for cheap ($99, it's listed on Harrow @ $220).
Infact, they brought in a bunch of composite goalie sticks from the local goalie show here in Vegas - all seem to be under priced ($79-$129). Most are unreleased Sherwood models.

This doesn't have to deal with the Curtis Curve . But I don't know where to post this and I saw this in the previous comment ! Goalie show or goalie convention !! I've heard of these in Texas and now Vegas . I'm from Ct do they ever have these shows/conventions around this area ?? Where would I go to find this info out ???

Do they still have them in stock? Do you happen to have the contact info of that pro shop?

Christian is making sticks again. I just ordered a Curtis Curve From them, you can even get them customized. I am glad they are up and running again because I haven't seen any eagles in the stores in over a year.
