Oil Machine

Its been a little over due, but I figured I would finally get it up, pics to follow :D..
A little long, but if your considering a new mask, worth a read if you want my opinion..
MY Coveted mask experience with ron(acmeguy)
Again I stress MY, as in what I experienced with him, and the mask ordering process, which in no way means you will have/had the same experience as him.
I don’t do the, I GIVE IT A 10/10, cause no matter how great a product is, nothing is a 10/10, its all personal opinion and I am going to try and do my best in telling you what I like, don’t like about the mask and paint.
So here goes,
I had contacted ron on the GLBB(goalie life) about doing a mask around september/october, and he seemed stoked to do it.
We exchanged e-mails, drawings, and away we went..
The first mask did not go as planned. Paint job was great, but was not how I saw it in my head, as ron first learned, I can be a tough customer, when I get something in my head, that’s what I want.
And well, instead of the horror stories I have been seeing more and more of around here, he did it again for me, with no problems..
And I am glad he did, the final product turned out GREAT… There is more involved then just a repaint, so I wont get into it too deep, but lets just say, he did go over and above what he had to, and his customer service is second to none I have received in all aspects of the word business.
Now on to the mask itself,
I took it out of the box, and it looked great, and felt great on the head(after adjusting the straps of course)
I searched over the mask looking for paint imperfections or flaws, and really, there was nothing. Even the holes were done properly.
I am very happy about the mask, and paint, and mask design, I had my reservations about it, but to be truthful, after actually using it, the design works for me perfectly.
Now on to the ice part, one reason I try to never do a review about a mask(or gear for that matter) RIGHT after receiving it. Gotta use it first :D
The mask breaths very nice, it is lighter then my hackva which I already knew it would be. But it is also lighter then the 961 which surprised me a little. All in all, the mask feels great on the ice, took me 2 games to get adjustments down. Also I have had no issues with the chin cup, no moving or sliding in the face area.
I have taken 2 good shots to the mask already, one to the cage,
- I wear a cats-eye style cage,
It was perfect, no ringing, no issues, and I took another one to the side. Again same result.
(I play div 1 mens in Edmonton, shots ARE harder then your average beer leaguer)
now onto the things I do not like about the mask, and really, there is only one, and It was very fixable,
The sweat band system. The band that is provided, I felt was a little weak in absorbing power, and I am not a fan of the “three Velcro” system, I do like a nice solid strip of Velcro. To me, if that’s my only complaint, I am doing good.
So really in conclusion,
Would I buy another mask from ron, yes (will be getting another one in a few months for a work related function)
Would I recommend the mask to other people, yes
And most importantly, do I will safe wearing this mask when someone is in the slot about to hammer a dinger at me, YES..
The fact the paint and craftsmen ship turned out as well as it did is a bonus if you ask me..
This is a first class mask from a first class guy. Thanks ron, I look forward to working with you in the future again :D
