I'm just curious as to what kind of mods people are getting on their C/A's. I have seen some add another row of belly blocks, but what other type of options are there and what have you had done? Thanks.

The extended belly comes stock I believe and is removable. I got the pro rib and if I had it to do over again would have gotten laced in arms.

With laced arms to can readjust the length as you wish. To me, it adds on the resale value more than anything, bt still, I think it's a nice feature.

Anyone have any pictures that can illustrate the difference between standard and "Pro-rib"? My new unit has rib protection galore but I didn't specifically request the "Pro-rib".

Mine is covered in a meshy nylon material similar to the Vaughn Epic, except for the arms. This is intended to add flexibility and decrease break-in time, save weight and reduce heat.

Can't wait for my next Battram c/a to try the new materials. I will ask for the classic rib protector. I just can't stand when there's too much there. In over 20 years, I don't remember getting hit in the ribs at all. Still wonder why people need that much protection there. If you get hit there.... What were you doing????

Stopping the puck.

One would think in 20 years, you'd learn to do that!!! :p

Maybe Scott has some pics, I am interested as well.

I can take some photos of my new one & my old one. You can really see the difference.

The biggest difference is that there is a larger pad behind the original pad, its softer foams so you really cant feel that its there... The new what I call "Pro-Finish" units feature air knit internals and exceed externals for lighter weight and better breathability. These are a little more money as the materials cost me a bit more than ther regular nylons but the cost isnt outrageous!

So, there is a stock C/A and a "Pro Finish" C/A? Do the "Pro Finish" C/A's come with the "Pro Rib" as well, or do you have to ask for that?

Pro-Finish would come with the additional rib padding.

Definately post the pics. My Vaughn 5500 of 5+ years is not providing the protection it once did. I have been hearing bad things about the epic and I just plain don't like RBK. After hearing all the great things about the Battram C/A, it has been put at the top of the list next to Brown. Brown will probably lose due to cost.

I have one in the shop waiting to ship that I will get some good photos of to show the "PRO-FINISH" with the additional rib and belly extension!

Scott, would mine be considered "Pro Finish?"

I dont think mine is though - I mean, it looks like normal nylon yes? (pro-ribs and belly pad aside)

Hey Scott, I notice you use that mesh material on the outside of the C/A now... how about the inside? What was the decision making process that pushed you to the newer material? Is it lighter? More breathable?

On my next order, I was think about ordering the new pro set-up with laced arms and a soft neck piece. Also, I'm still thinking about ways to get the chest a bit (well, a lot) flatter. I already have a chest! LOL

The length of the actual apron is fine for me, but the extension becomes a better resale value. The new material looks amazing. My Battram is already cooler than my Brown, I can't imagine how it would be with the new mesh material.

Honestly the new stuff is so much cooler than anything I've tried before. I was joking in the chat that if you broke a sweat in warmups and then had to sit the bench in a cold rink you might catch a cold! LOL. Between the new C/A and my RBK Play-Dri shirt I stayed cool and relatively dry. You will be amazed man!

Scott,

with the pro finish can you still do the custom colors? For some reason I really have this burning desire to do the camo c/a. It makes me laugh everytime I see it, and its so crazy I have to get one.

We could still do a PRO-FINISH but the material for some of the exterior couldnt be camo, however the arms and some other parts of the unit could be done camo, or the entire unit could be camo but you wouldnt be able to have the mesh like material thats all, everything else would still be the pro-finish setup!

What colors are available in the mesh material?

Scott Battram

The colours in the mesh materials are:

Black/Silver
Navy/Silver
Red/Silver
White/Silver

The supplier of the material is in the process now of looking for a new manufacturer to use who has smaller minimum orders, right now they have to order 3000 yards of this stuff at one time. If they find a new supplier they will be able to possibly get a larger range of colours as well. They did have a Black/Copper at one time and a Blue/Silver but they were not as popular as the ones above.

I didn't want to start a new thread to ask this...
But my epic c/a is gettin a bit small and if things go well I'll be playing minor midget aaa next year. I don't really want to get another epic. I just find it too inconsistant. Like some really weak shots hurt? Get random stingers, it's white/really stained, and it's pretty pricey.
Anyways like I said if I play good hockey next year I'll need new a new c/a (and other things lol.) I was wondering if anyone has tried anything like sqaured up (epic style) floaters.. (I like the flat blocking area concept)

Scott, zip him a Pic of the one you did for me -Full CAMO with a black mesh finish to it - it turned out beautifully and is the BEST CA of any every time I enter a rink.
