If you like the Cyclones, the FURY will be much like them. The Nexus will be a different style pad, but will also be similar in the internal construction to the Fury. The pads have really changed since 2002, and no matter what you get you will notice a more flexible, lighterweight pad with better performance!

If you go Nexus, get the Nexus with the breaks at the knee, then the feel and flex will be really similar to your Cyclones!

Not being an actual goalie, I am afraid I can't get into specifics of pad advantages/disadvantages.

I can tell you my son had new Verge pads (two years ago) and new Fury pads (one year ago). While he has been happy with both, he does prefer the Fury. Found it lighter and a little smoother for lateral drives, etc.

With regards to Nexus, he does not have the pads (yet: another growth spurt could send us back for another pair). He does however have the gloves. He is thrilled with them.

How old is your son? Is his hand to small for the Nexus catcher? How would he rate it? Pros, and Cons

My son is almost 17. He is very happy with both gloves and they fit him well.

He is not home right now so I will fill you in on my perceptions and then ask him later for more specifics.

What does he have:
Nexus gloves
Pro-Spec size

Pros:
Absolutely no stingers at all
Light
Gorgeous to look at
Fit his hands fine

Problem he has had with catcher:
It would not be fair to call this a con as it is not likely a flaw of the glove.
He has times where the puck hits the sides of the glove as opposed to going into the pocket. However, I don't believe it is an issue with the design.

Rather, it is a transition issue of going from his older glove to the new one. His old glove was:
a) Not pro-spec
b) Was worked in to the point of being like a pancake
The Nexus is a much different angle. The experts on here talk about 45 degree as opposed to 60 degree as opposed to 90 degree.

Hope my rambling helps a little: I will try to get my son to throw some goalie jargon on later.
