Correct Matt... Your upper is on the way...
I will have to send out your sliding bridges this week as our die for cutting the slot broke a couple weeks ago, and i just got my new one, which I had them make the slot a little over 1/8" in height to eliminate the vertical travel of the slider... so over all, our sliding toe bridges just got better as a result of a broken die!

Sure I will do that this evening for you... we modified the catcher graphic a little because I know you wanted flames on it and the back really doesnt allow for graphics, so we did a flame job inside the scoop portion of the catcher and moved the paw print to the thumb side, it turned out quite nice and lets the flame theme flow through the entire set!

Tischa has been super busy this week in the evenings doing some studying required for her "day" job. So she hasnt had a chance to get to all the emails.
Claire, your gloves are done pads will be started Friday.
Bruno, the Canadian dollar and US dollar are practically the same right now, and the figure you emailed seems to be on the right track, but you should here from her today as she is off work and is doing some of the business stuff today.

Hmmm... I can see it now... the next new Reality TV Show on TLC "Canadian Goalie Pad" !!!!!

Patience young Battram Jedi...tis' worth the wait...
And if there is any Battam gear in the NHL it will never see the light of day; it costs thousands of dollars to get your name "in the show"
That would add $100 easy to the cost of our gear...and Scott would work at the whim of the stars and WE would be at the back of the line.
No thank you... :)

Does every goalie in the NHL get paid to wear a specific brand? Even Tim Thomas wearing Smith gear?
Zapmehome
09-28-2007, 01:13 AM
yes, I think its high stakes business, probably get their gear for free, or even get paid to wear the "brand"....one day...
Scott Battram
09-28-2007, 09:51 AM
Usually the higher profile players will get endorsement deals. Some company's will not pay the goalie but with the infiltration of the shoe industry into hockey with the deep pockets the players know there is money to be had. If the companies name is on the gear, they have paid the NHL the fees to have the name visible. Tim Thomas switched to another brand did he not? I am bet that some money may have persuaded him, since he was always a loyal user of Smith gear.

I love Tim with all the gear he goes thru. He was in Bauer One95s now hes in Velo 3s with the Bauer blocker and a Itech Trapper. you gotta love that...

Ya...I used to be a Brand whore. Everything had to match. But now I'm discovering different properties for gloves. I'll eventually order a set of Battram gloves. More for the quality and reputation not because the brand will be matching my pads.

The money can be quite significant. After Stephane Richer had his first 50 goal season for the Canadiens in the mid to late 80s, he was courted by Chimo who were offering him $10K to use their stick.
Going into last year's playoffs, Ray Emery got into a bit of trouble with Brian's. He was paid to wear Brian's, but when he got hurt early on, he tried Gerber's glove, preferred it, and wore it for a good chunk of the season. Then Brian's reminded him where his bread was buttered, so to speak, and he wore the Brian's glove in the playoffs.
I believe that Mike Richter was signed by Bauer to wear their gear, but I suspect he had his old Vaughn pads re-branded to read Bauer because the pads he was wearing were nothing like the Reactor pads that Bauer was selling at the time.
Luongo and Brodeur both get their masks from Michel Lefebvre, but they are branded as RBK (and previously Heaton and CCM for Brodeur and Koho for Luongo). In the same way that companies pay to have their stickers on player's helmets in the world championships, the equipment manufacturers pay to advertise on the league's best goalies.

I completely agree with everything you just said. :D
I'm really excited, but a little nervous to.
The Fury pads seem to come with a lot of options for the strap setup and such. I've never given much thought to how tight I should do up the straps, or where I want them to be, or getting maximum pad rotation. I just got told to do up the top ones loose and the bottom ones tight. I guess its gonna take a bit of experimentation.
Reading other peoples posts on there strap setups has been really interesting.

Lefebvre hasn't built "lefebvre" masks in quite some time. The label on the mask may have little relevance to whom actually built the mask. See manny fernandez last year.
