My Son just finished a week at the Revolutionary Hockey Program (RHP) Elite Goalie program in Sudbury so I thought I'd share a little.

Last year we went to Elkin's and this one was easily better than that one.
The ratio was supposed to be "better than 2:1" but it ended up being 1:1.
I don't know why he had so many instructors but it sure made for some great learning.
There were about 15 goalies (age 13 - 16), 7-> 8 'main stations' with 12 instructors in 'half gear' some shooters and the boss (Scott Murray) overseeing the whole thing. Scott is the newly named goalie coach for the Major Junior - Sudbury Wolves.
I say "main stations" because the goalies went around in pairs but didn't end up staying together. They would go the main station, listen to the description of the drill, then, one of them would stay, and one of them would go to a sub station and do a skating or movement drill.
Lots of work but as always...the kid’s only get out of it as much as what they put into it.
This school is not for babies:
3 hours of ice (2 x 1.5), 1.5 hours of dry land (2 x .75), and 1 hour of video/lunch.

The kids had fun but they worked hard (if they wanted to) and the instructors were engaging and enthusiastic.
As far as content...the school highlights the details of movement vs. the puck location for 'one hundred and one scenarios' but that statement would be an over-simplification.
Needless to say...I'll need to have a chat with the boy to get 'the full scoop' to carry those drill ideas onto the backyard ice and into our drill routine.
Don't worry...we have lots of laughs in the backyard. I'm smart enough to know that this is his life and not mine. I'm just a helper.
Anyway...back to fishing.

Cheers

PS. As you can tell...I'm not a writer.
