What size are your skates? I have an old pair of 7000's I don't use anymore that I need to sell.

Other than that, I can be of much help. I have used Bauer 3000, Bauer 7000, and then moved to my current frankenskates that used to belong to Marty Turco, a Vector 10 cowling with a Vapor XXX boot.

I know you wrote that you're thinking RBK or CCM, but if you do consider Bauer Vapor XXXs, be sure to actually skate on some before buying. I bought some last year, and still can't get used to the blade placement and angle. The boots seem fine, though.

I'm on a CCM Vector and it's been great. Some people don't like the replacable blade due to the screw mechanism but should they ever fail, just go to your local hardware store and find some screws of the same size and some rubber washers, and it'll be brand new (which is what I did). The screws on mine did not break or anything, but I felt more comfortable with rubber washers instead so I fixed it up.

I'll try to sway you another way completely !! Look into Graf's I have a set of Graf pro 750's they are by far some of the most comfortable skates i've ever tried on and really quick breakin time if any at all!!

Have you considered getting new cowlings? I too have Bauer 7000s and got new cowlings in the spring. Cost me about $120.

i thought about that getting new cowlings but i have had the skates for a while now and the tungs are starting to come apart and 120-150 for new cowls or apply that to new skates

I've got RBK 3ks. They have been the most comfortable skate boots I've worn on my tiny flipper feet by far. I also like the offset blade and the extra blade length compared to my CCMs of the same size.

Unfortunately, protection-wise they suck big time.
And, it seems the blade can't seem to hold an edge for more than half a game. (1/4" hollow).

I went from a set of Bauer 7000's which I did not care too much for, to a set of CCM 852's and have to say that it was quite an improvement. Hockeyworld has them on sale and I am not sure what sizes they still have. Though I have to say that I have been toying with the idea of a set of Graf's.

I am wearing CCM Vector 6's. They are comfortable and light, with good protection, but not of the best quality on the materials side. I would not recommend them.

I would consider Graf's as well. I have a pair of 650's that I absolutely love. I've ben wearing them for 2+ years, and they fit great ( I wear an 8 skate as well, size 9.5 shoe), they have great protection and they are still in excellent shape - I play 2-3 times a week.

The price is great too - Hockeyworld.com has them for $219:
