After having my TPS R8 bag for a few years, it grew a few holes from wear and tear and became a magnet for my cat to pee on it.... so on Wednesday I accidently found myself in Majer Hockey and walking out with this lovely piece of work.

I've read really good reviews on the bag so I think I made a good choice. I like that the fabric feels fairly heavy duty, that there's no vinyl sections to split and tear (like a sherwood I had) and that the bag itself is just one big compartment with a mesh zipper pocket on the top flap.

It measures 40 x 20 x 20 (so they said at the store) and thats just dandy with me. My TPS was too big, so to go down to this more compact size is nice. It fits all my gear in there (pads too) comfortably and still zips up with ease.

Only thing I'll miss over the TPS is the type of wheels they put on this. The TPS had bigger - almost knobby type wheels with some traction that spun easily. The wheels on this Brians look like cheap rollerblade wheels that have el-crapo bearings. They won't keep spinning if you give it a flick.

The retractable handle I can get used to. Its not necessary really though because there's handles on this bag EVERYWHERE. That is awesome. It makes it easy to pick up in all sorts of awkward positions and throw in the back of my car (subaru station wagon). I've yet to use the stick straps, but it'll probably get lots of use this coming weekend as I'll be playing in a tournament.

So far - I'm happy with it. I think it'll last me quite a while.

It looks great. I would kill for those stick holding straps...

It looks good, currently have the Vaughn wheel bag. It's perfect except for the lack of the telescoping handle.

looks good for wheeling

But what about throwing over your shoulder if you have to?

I have that bag, and it is awesome! It doesn't have a shoulder strap, or anything like that, but you can lift it up and carry it around on your back with relative ease.

How ridgid is the bottom of the bag? I have a TPS wheel bag now that sags like a wet noodle. My heels end up kicking the bottom of the bag while walking. It frustrates me to no end. If this Brians bag is nice and stiff, then I'm sold.

Do the bottom runners seem durable? Mine fell off my TPS bag from dragging it down so many stairs and ramping over anything else that was in the way.

Do you think oiling the bearings would help, or are they just too tight of a fit?

i had the exact same bag, after 3 - 4 uses a week, its falling apart after a year.

Was very sad about that :(

The bottom of the Brians is definately more rigid than the TPS. I also experienced the heel kicking the bag thing TPS, haven't noticed that so far with the Brians - and thats while using the telescoping handle, and without too.

I haven't had the bag a long time, Ive only had it out for about 6 times so far, but I'm pretty darn happy with it. (so far)

The bottom runners "seem" durable... I never had them fall off my TPS and that bag constantly went up and down stairs all the time. Time will tell with the Brians I guess :)

I think the reason I had issues with my TPS bag's runners was because they were really the only supports the bag had. That, and being dragged over anything that happened to be in the way. =/

I'll definitely have to check the Brians bag out. Not having plastic lined parts would be nice as well. I have plastic dandruff on my gear regularly from the bag lining of my TPS disintigrating and flaking off.

Do the sides have any structure to them, or are they just fabric? From the stock pictures it looks pretty self supporting.

Brian's Wheeled Bag = Total Crap

I ordered mine in August from a company that shall remain nameless for now. When it finally showed up 7 weeks (mid September) later I took it out of the package to find it had a 4 1/2" rip in the seam where the side panel & top come together. I contacted the retailer and blah blah blah we'll send you a new one right away. I still don't have a new one.

So I sewed up the rip and now after 2 months of use the zipper is ripping away from the lid, there is a rip in the seam of one of the skate pockets, and one of the handle straps just about ripped of just lifting it into the back of my truck.

Complete waste of $100 buck + shipping.

I'm be going back to my Brian's carry bag, now that thing is a tank.
