Once my Fury Combo gets here, the Upper Body pad will be next on my list. My question for Scott as well as those who own and play with one is, how is the unit for temperature, weight and bulk? I don't want anything overly bulky, overly hot or overly heavy. I like the idea of ordering custom so the belly pad will be long and wide enough for a chubby guy like me.

Scott will make you an Upper to your specifications. I just read about him making an upper with a new material and specs for heat management. Sizing will be perfect as long as you give him accurate measurements.

I have a stock 5000 (no customization) I was very happy with the flex and comfort of the pad. Now, I have to say, my old pad was VERY thin and much less flexible. So this pad is bulkier and is a lot hotter but the protection difference more then makes up it.

So it took me a while to get used the the reduced air flow but now I don't get bruises on my chest.

I have owned a Battram upper body for about 8.5 years (model 3500 I think), and it has performed wonderfully. I think in the entire time I have used it, I might have gotten bruised less than a dozen times from really hard shots.

I found the weight was not very different from my previous (an old school Heaton body pad), although it was bulkier, it moved as easily and took no time to get used to. As for temperature, I am not really one to say because I usually play in an arena that is warmer than any other I've ever played in. I did find, though, that when I got a JockPlus compression body suit that a quick squirt of water down the chest or the back and I would be cooled instantly. The body suit does a good job of wicking sweat away from the body, but you start in a warmer environment than just a regular tshirt.

My Battram C/A isn't the bulkiest that I've owned, but there is some bulk to it. Like all the other "bulky" C/As it will break in over time. Mine has been a tank, and I feel comfortable standing in front of any shot with it. It can be a bit warm after playing in it for some time, but it's not terrible. As mentioned before, Scott will custom build the unit for your needs. I'm sure he can build something that will work for you.
