I just put in my preliminary order for Nexus inline pads. Yea!! Since all design aspects have not been finalized, do any of you have suggestions for me? Thanks.

Welcome to the club - Battram Pad club that is.
I absolutely LOVED my deceptors that I had, and I'm looking forward to the Nexus Pads to come . . . in the next 10 days for me. You may wish to look at what Your needs are (I like my pads tight at my feet) and the nexus Pads have only one strap - so I ordered two lower pad straps. There are many before me who have raved about the pads - and I ordered mine with a +2 thigh rise since everyone says they are extremely flexible.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the thigh board - so You may wish to evaluate Your need for this. The Nexus pads are extemely light, so You may wish to continue with Leather straps instead of converting to the all-nylon variety. Those were my considerations before I ordered.
Good luck!

What material will slide better; ballistic nylon or cordura nylon?

I'm thinking slide-plates here...

I am getting slide plates. But I kinda want to take them off when I play on hard wood floors.
Here's a question: Do you think I should go +3 on the thigh? So that's 35 +3.
I really have no problem with 5-hole coverage. I can close 27"s easily. My ATK is 17.7. So basically I just want to maximise my coverage area. Do you think +3 will be too much for ball hockey?
Take in consideration that for ball hockey the pad boots basically sit on the floor.

I play in Furys with slide-plates. Sports-court will destroy your pads without them - this said, wood might be a little easier to wear?
………………
There’s a good thigh-rise / ATK schedule on the GSBB…
I personally wear 34+1 at ATK16 …although I’ll probably go with 34+2 on my next set.
IMHO, 35 +3 sounds okay for your ATK….but it’s all a question of taste.
From experience, Scott is very good at judging your requirements and offering advice

Gotta disagree about sportcourt destroying gear. I've used my various ice pads for roller for the last 11 years and there is no significant wear on them from the different surface. My Nexus pads will be the first pads with slide plate mods on them, and I only requested them because I'm starting to worry about damaging my knees from "attempting" to butterfly slide etc.
Now if you're planning on playing on asphalt, that's a different story...

I played roller on smooth concrete (the concrete surface under the ice in arenas) for five years in the late ninties and never worried about my ice gear getting damaged.

Smooth concrete and wood floors are extremely smooth. So one really wont see any wear. Scott seems to be on vacation or something right now.

playing on smooth concrete never gave me any wear on my old 5k pads, i do wear pad covers now since i got nexus's. won't take any chances damaging them even tho i never experienced any wear previously.
