Out Of The Box :
These thing were stunning out of the box.Every stitch was in place nothing loose everything perfect. Scott did everthing I wanted him to and helped with the graphic and colors. I include ordering in out of the box and I must say if you are interested at all in Battram pads give there toll free number a call, Scott and I talked for about a half an hour and answered every question I had. Every email I sent was repiled to quickly. 10/10

10 Months of use:
Pads:
Coming from Reebok Sr's the leg channel was different but I found it to be very comfortable. The pad's had perfect rotation and I haven't had any problems with them at all, after 5 months they still look I just took them out of the box. One minor thing that I found with the pads that the knee wings would stick out a big and if you were skating it would feel a little akward but I stuck some velcro strips on them and they stayed put, but after an hour of use you can't even notice it. Mods I asked for were; all leather straps, +2 thigh rise.

In the image above Scott has sewed a Special patch in to the calf wrap in memory of Matthew Churchill a player in my league who was killed in a hit and run accident in March of 2005. Huge Thanks to Scott! 10/10

Catcher

This catcher is a beast, so far i've had 1 pop out with this but that was my bad. Very comfortable, roomy. No stingers at all with this baby. Since using this glove my glove hand has improved alot (I came from a Itech 4.8 Vamp which sucked)!

Blocker

Great blocker, not much to say blocker is a blocker. I really like the palm and feel of this one though. The sidewall is perfect it has helped me out in some sticky situations. The material used in the palm grips a composite stick very well (just picked up a Bauer XX). Bindingless and well constructed.

great review mate

I'm debating which set of battram gloves to get to match my Fury's.

I'm just not sure the difference between them all! I'm cmming from a set of SherwOOD 9960's which are massive.

Hey Sprawl,
If you like the size of the Sherwood glove, I would suggest going with the 5002 catcher (it's massive). I came from a Sherwood 9980 and like the feel of the 5002 better and they weight is about the same.

Just a thought, shouldn't this be in the Battram Review section?

i find the 9960 catcher to massive. even the blocker. But i think it's the fit on my hand thats too big. hard to manuever around.

And yes. moved the thread

Yah my bad I was to excited to see the battram review section. But to the catcher, I love the Verge It closes great! Mine has a cheater so its not as flexiable as it could be, but im used to it, it handles a stick pretty good. As for the blocker Its simular to the Vaughn Epic. I like the Verge but ehh who cares find out what you like, call up Scott ask a couple of questions it worked for me.

verge blocker and 5002 catcher for my money.

i honestly couldn't criticise them...although the 5002 might be too big for some league play?

I originally opted for the Verge catcher but Scott recommended the 5002 instead...so I swopped.

I cant remember his reason - so he might be able to explain a little more? (I'm guessing that the 5002 is virtually a guaranteed 'hit' with Battram customers?...and made sense considering I live in the UK and returns aren't really an option!!)

Thats right Moving Target, the Verge glove is a glove you really need to try on first to get a good feel for. The 5000 series gloves are a common style and have a very nice feel and fit on the hand and a natural closure and in my opinion is the best glove we offer and my personal recommendation to my customers.

Of course we offer it in NHL legal sizing now as well.

definately agree

...atleast three people have tried my gloves since they arrived and they have all made the same comments.

(hopefully you should see some new orders coming through...:D)

I own a 5000 series glove along with a Verge and I definately prefer the Verge. The only downfall with the Verge is the long break-in period but the reason is that it is far more protective. Also, I understand that Scott has made some changes to the internals to help speed up the break-in.

The 5000 glove came pretty much game ready and has broken down and become pretty flimsy (especially the tee which uses HD foam as opposed to poly). It is getting pretty old now (4+ years?). The break really lacks protection in my opinion but that is the trade-off for easy break-in. My 5000 series glove is also made of bucky material. Following initial concerns over durability I now go on record to say the material is actually quite durable. It may not be as cut resistant as JenPro but it has held up nicely against abrasion considering I have used it for a lot of ball hockey on various surfaces and now am using it for inline.

The Verge I have had now for about 15 months with pretty heavy use and it is finally feeling broken in! I did not do a lot to break it in outside of playing with it, openning and closing it a lot and throwing pucks into it when I first bought it but I knew I was getting a stiff protective glove when I ordered it. I like the more natural (traditional) shape and feel of the Verge compared with the more forward angled (claw) shape of the 5000 gloves but again that is subjective.
