So I just got the Evite to participate on my first team ever, Teh Rebels.
I'll be playing in the EE league (third lowest hey I'm a Newb)

Its my first season as a goalie and my first organized season since I was six.

So to say the least I am very excited, I will keep this updated as my season moves along to track my progress.

Game 1 Preseason.

Meet my team, pretty cool guys.

Step on the ice and realize I'm probably a division too low, whatever.

Warm ups go pretty smoothly, and I was feeling pretty good after being on my feet for 12 hours that day.

Game starts and the other team has NO offense, so sorry for the other tender but it was in his zone 90% of the time. I think i saw 3 shots in the first period lol.

With about 2 minutes left in the first, one of their forwards had it in the coner and passed it out to the front of the net. I swang at it but it bounced over my stick :mad:. Butterfly slide to the front of the net and I run into traffic in my crease :mad::mad:. this girl on the other team (who happens to be in my colleges hockey class with me) scoops up the puck and tosses it in:mad:. first goal against ever and it was S***. So that tied the score up right before the second.

About two minutes into the second, the other teams captain (who I think was #20 dad because who else would fight in a preseason beerleague game and wait outside our locker room after the game to give us a piece of his mind??) slams my captain into the boards and starts hackin him with the stick. pushing. shoving. people are kicked out. game resumes.

My team takes the lead in the second on a nice breakaway.
I think i saw maybe two more shots in the second.

Third period was a little more exciting for me.
I saw 5 shots!! lol
didnt have a problem with any of them.
other team pulls the goalie, we score on an empty net.
game ends 3-1.
WIN FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So today was our third league game,

We tied the first two 1-1 and I wont get into the horrors of both of those goals....as they will be explained while I explain this next game.


So going into the game I was feeling less confident, because its been a couple weeks since I've suited up.

The other team had no wins, so I though at the very least we'd tie. VERY least.

Boy was I mistaken.

My team was DOMINATED

The scoreboard doesn't show it, but the other team was in my zone a good 90% of the game.

And when is it ever OK to have three guys in front of your own crease???
Its like my team was purposely trying to screen me!!!

The second and third goals, as well as the two goals from the other games all came from me being screened by multiple players of my own team.
I would be in the butterfly trying to peek around them, and th puck would dribble in before I could get a leg on it, and they were ALL weak goals. I would have had absolutely NO problem blocking them IF I COULD SEE THE DANG PLAY!!!

jeebus.....But I digress.

The first goal of the afternoons game was scored early in the first after the entire line either stayed in the other zone, or fell down. Leaving me with a 3-0 with no defense coming to pick up rebounds for miles.

Played comes in...

I go to poke check....

way too far out of the crease....

he pulls it back, goes around me, and scores.

The last goal came from a power play.
Our man basically mauled the other player after he dropped his stick. He already had a delayed penalty for tripping, so he decided he couldn't get in more trouble if he tackled the player with the puck. 6 minute double minor.

Shortly after, on a faceoff in our zone off a STUPID high sticking call, I make a good save on a shot from the faceoff dot. rolled around for a while saving two more. While my team was chatting it up still by the faceoff dot, The other team squeaked a fourth one by my leg before I could get a glove on it.

All in all, I cant complain, because I'm playing....But its not as fun when your team doesn't give you a chance.

So Its been a while since I kept up with this thing.

I finally got pictures of myself. And my team is doing pretty good. I keep having really long breaks between games because of work and stuff so I'm suffering a little bit but I'm still getting alot better. Heres my pictures.....

So I got my first shutout last night!!!!

First of my life. In my first season.

Felt really good. And the ref came up to me with two minutes left and said "hey looks like youve got a......just kidding."

I almost punched him haha.

Anyways...
.My team is tied for first place now. And were on a roll. This season just gets better and better.

i have found that late in the 3rd if i accidentally realize i have a shut out going... that means i thought about it and bam! goal lol.
