This was brought up once in the now-deceased GSBB 'Official Battram' thread, but I'm very curious to know if anyone's learned more about this material: weight, durability, availability, price, etc. Basically, anything at all would be helpful. :D
To see an example, go to The Clarino/Amaretta Homepage (http://www.clarino-am.com/), wait for the silly intro to finish, the click on the "Equestrian" logo in the top right corner. This will take you to a page that shows three rotating images, one of which is a saddle made of what appears to be a gorgeous, rich leather-brown Clarino with a fake hand-tooled finish.
If it's tough enough for a saddle, it'd probably work for a pair of pads... or at least for some really next trim.

I have requested some samples of this material. Not really sure what it will be if it will be the material used for the pants, or for the saddle, but I will see when it arrives. I also asked for a colour chart, so it would be nice if there is a real "retro" colour on the list. Since nothing other than Buckey has been close to the colour of the traditional old school pads.

Awesome, Scott. Keep me posted - I'd love to work this stuff into a set. I did like Royboy's 'JS Benefit' chocolate-brown & black set, but this stuff looks significantly more 'authentic'.
It would also be very helpful to know, when the samples & colour charts arrive, whether there are shades of Cordura that would match well.

Working with Marubeni isnt always the easiest thing in the world (probably one of the reasons 90% of goalie companies no longer order from them!) so I would be surprised if I actually see the stuff!! haha They seem to look after the big accounts first! As for cordura, there are hundreds of colours, so I doubt that would be a difficult match at all. The hockey guys sample cards only show the matching colours to the Jenpro/Robocop but if you have just a cordura sample card it actually comes on a banner type display thats about 15 inches wide by 2 feet tall with little 1" X 1" colour sample swatches and probably 80 - 100 colours!
